![]() I’m in my 70’s it feels strange owning light bulbs that may outlast me. These bulbs are estimated to last for 25,000 hours or 22 years. I may have to settle for the more industrial look of security light fixtures. Also, the bulb cannot be used in an enclosed fixture because of heat buildup. There doesn’t seem to be a wide selection of ceiling hung, downward-facing, standard base light fixtures. ![]() My existing outside door light fixtures are mounted on the porch ceilings and hold small Candelabra Base Light Bulbs. I have been testing these bulbs in my garage and basement because I haven’t found a suitable fixture. I live in Kansas, and the temperature rarely reaches that low. The bulbs will operate in weather down to -3 degrees Farenheight. The bulbs are Wet rated and have a temperature of 5000K (nearly sunlight quality for sharp doorbell videos). I have a motion-activated doorbell/camera at each door, but I’m not satisfied with the video quality in low light. I’ve had these bulbs for two weeks, and I intend to use them on the exterior of my house above my front and back doors. To reactivate the motion detection, turn the light off then on. After that, the light will remain on without any motion detected. You can disable the motion sensor by turning the bulb on then off then on within 3 seconds. The third energy saver is the motion detection feature, which in normal operation only turns the bulb on when motion is detected (within a 25-foot range) and automatically turns the bulb off again one minute after the last detected movement. The second reason is the energy-saving dusk to dawn feature that turns the light off during the day. The bulbs are energy efficient for three reasons: First: they produce 1200 Lumens (equivalent to a 120-watt incandescent bulb) with only 13 watts of electricity. The bulbs are sold two to a pack and reasonably priced. Ecosmart’s 1200 Lumens LED motion-activated floodlight is loaded with features and earned my enthusiastic five-star rating.
